The Atkins Diet was originally designed for diabetics, and it helped my mom get her blood sugar down (when she followed it). I recommend it highly for anyone struggling with dangerous blood sugar levels. It's surprisingly effective.

When I was working from home, I lost a good 10-12 lbs on it, though. And who doesn't love a "diet" that lets you eat bacon? Just make sure you also eat a ton of veggies, since fruit (as well as bread, pasta, etc.) is off the list for the first week or two.

I only just saw this, as I was trying to catch back up with LJ. Diabetes is on my radar screen this year, because my mom is diabetic, and I am at risk for it (hypoglycemic now, and tend to spill sugar during pregnancies ( ... )
