GENERAL QUESTIONS
Your Name?: Ozbourne will do. I prefer not to use my actual name online, so I'm all about the aliases. :)
Age?: I hope saying that I am over twenty will suffice here.
Gender?: Well, -technically- I'm female, but I tend to be fairly androgynous.
Location?: You get snark here too; I'll say I'm somewhere in North America.
Horoscope?: Sagittarius, and a good bit of it doesn't suit me at all, as you'll probably see below.
Likes?: Art, crafts, fashion and fashion design, mythology and folklore, the occult, video and computer games (especially combat games like Street Fighter, puzzle games like Tetris, some strategy games and Pokemon games), Wikipedia, Internet forums/bulletin boards, stamping communities, my insane dreams, bubble baths, going barefoot, shiny objects, books, anime, manga, reality shows (not the dating ones, but more things like Survivor, American Idol, America's Next Top Model, Project Runway, etc.), medical shows, long walks, my private time, fresh fruit, seafood, reptiles, felines, and butterflies
Dislikes?: Early mornings, "morning people", backstabbers/traitors, people who are overly perky all the time, clingy people, anything romantic, public displays of affection, people pushing their beliefs on me, homophobia, racism, animal abuse, boredom, my immune system, ignorance, sycophants, people expecting me to be submissive to them, invasions of my privacy, personal questions, large crowds, clubbing, onions, mayonnaise, high-waisted anything, short-shorts, socks, and the colour beige
Hobbies?: Touched on above in the "Likes" section, but craft projects, fashion design, surfing the Internet (generally consisting of browsing random things on Wikipedia, playing games, posting in Livejournal and stamping communities, and making snarky comments and occasionally irritating the hell out of people on bulletin boards), reading, and plotting global domination. (Mostly joking on the last one so please don't take it as a "push"; I've got an in joke with several friends about being a megalomaniac, this seems to stem back to the fact I watched too much Pinky and the Brain as a kid. I actually had a plot devised at one point and everything.)
Favourite quote/saying/lyric?: I've got way too many of these, as I tend to collect interesting quotes and lyrics. As I'm having trouble deciding on a -favourite-, I'll share one that I think -suits- me:
"I'm your hell, I'm your dream
I'm nothing in between
You know I wouldn't have it any other way" -from "Bitch" by Meredith Brooks
What are your strengths?: I'm independent, determined, creative, unique, have a decent (albeit rather sarcastic and often dry) sense of humour, can be rather ambitious, spontaneous, reasonably intelligent, loyal to those who I've managed to let through my outer shell, analytical, honest (often to the point of being blunt, especially when I'm not concerned with hurting feelings-- maybe this should go in negatives?), good at puzzles, and possess a collection of rather bizarre talents (such as being nearly ambidextrous, being able to write with both hands at once, being able to write backwards in cursive, and being able to cry on cue.)
What are your weaknesses?: I'm very distrustful and private and do not easily let others in, I'm extremely introverted and don't make friends easily (well, that's also due to the distrustfulness I just mentioned), I've got a bad temper, I tend to depression and pessimism and I brood about things when upset, I'm completely unromantic to the point of not believing myself capable of romantic love, I'm horribly impatient, I'm very unforgiving and hold grudges for a long time (it's very rare to get a second chance from me), I can be quite vindictive (even if it's only in my imagination and I don't act on it), am quite chaotic, have horrible luck at the moment, and my immune system doesn't seem to like me very much.
What do you like best about yourself?: Probably either my independence or my determination. I see these as two of my best traits because they're the ones most likely to allow me to be successful.
What are your goals or aims in life?: Ideally, I would like to be able to have enough money (either through winning it or starting my own business, or even getting a really good job and retiring early) that I don't need to live by anyone's schedule and rules (job rules, not like... actual laws; I'm independent, not a criminal!) but my own. I'd have my dream house (a yellow Victorian-style house with teal and brick red trim, decorated exactly as I'd like, with at least one secret passage or hidden room, and I'd host an annual murder-mystery party every Halloween. I'd like to have my own fashion line or boutique. More realistically, and as a shorter-term goal, I'd like to find a job that will pay me enough to allow me to get a house instead of living in an apartment and live more comfortably than just paycheck to paycheck.
PERSONAL QUESTIONS
Which character from Harry Potter, DISCLUDING the obvious answer of Harry, would you say you most admire and why?: Well, I really admire Luna Lovegood, for her wit and the her individuality. I love the fact that even in the face of bullying and ostracism from her peers that she's not afraid to be herself and stand up for her beliefs, strange as they may be. 'Though there are several characters in the series I really admire; I have many more favourites than I do least favourites.
Which Hogwarts subjects would you be best and worst at - or otherwise like and dislike most?: I'd probably be decent at Potions, since I was always pretty good at chemistry in school. The same goes for Herbology; I got an A in botany and I'm sure I'd be as interested in magical plants as I was in ordinary ones, probably even more so. Defense Against the Dark Arts, when taught by a competent teacher (for example, not Lockhart or Umbridge!) would be another favourite of mine, especially if taught with a hands-on approach. I think I'd also enjoy divination, aside from the fact that Trelawney would likely interpret my strange dreams as signs of impending doom; I'm sure if I did not actually See that I'd have a rather good time coming up with fake predictions. My least favourite class, and the one I'd likely do worst in, would be History of Magic (which I'm sure everyone says due to Binns being so dreadfully boring). Not only do I prefer teachers who aren't so droll that they'd put me to sleep, I've never really been as good at social studies, sad to say.
Which house would you WANT to be in, or which do you have most respect for and why?: This is a difficult question for a number of reasons. Firstly, I don't wish to bias anyone's votes towards or against a particular house for me. Secondly, although I do see more of a couple houses in myself than the others, if I was that adamant about being in one particular house I wouldn't have joined this community. And thirdly, I respect all of the Houses, for different reasons of course. I like Ravenclaw because I admire intelligence and feel that one should never stop learning. I like Slytherin because I see ambition as a positive trait, and I'm far from being one of those who sees all of them as "evil" or sees Slytherin as the house where only bad people go. (Pettigrew's a good example; a Gryffindor gone bad. And on the flip side there's Slughorn; he's hardly evil.) I admire the way Gryffindors stand up in the face of adversity, and the fact that many of them seem to have a really keen sense of humour (the Marauders, the Weasley twins, etc.) I admire the loyalty of the Hufflepuffs (especially as a rather distrustful person myself), and their patience (mainly because this is something I really lack).
If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?: I don't like it when I get too emotional over something, especially since the majority of the time these emotions are negative. I'd make it so that I'd be more calm all the time instead of getting stressed and possibly losing my temper or getting depressed and brooding about things. As a part of this, I'd also boost my self esteem a bit.
If you could change one thing in the world, what would it be?: I would give everyone in the world more common sense. I believe that allowing people to have a tool that will let them see their own problems and try to find a way to fix them would be far more valuable in the long run than just offering a quick fix to one immediate problem. Giving them common sense allows for the solving of multiple problems instead.
How much use would magic have in your current everyday life?: Well, for starters, I'm sure that it'd make my housecleaning less tedious, and who needs a dishwasher when you've got Scourgify? Practical applications such as that aside, I'd use it to help me achieve my goals. Nothing -bad-, really; I'm not talking putting hexes on people and forcing them to hire me for a better job or give me a lot of money or something, but a bit of magical tailoring might help my fashion designs, and a little extra luck before the big interview would certainly not hurt. Perhaps I'd even invent something really cool that would sell for a lot of money, who knows?
If you had one day left to live, what would you do?: Cram in everything on my list of "Things To Do Before I Die" that I could possibly fit in and tell everyone my true feelings. I keep a lot of things inside, both good and bad, and if I had nothing to lose maybe I wouldn't be as hesitant to share them.
Tell us three random things about yourself: Oooh dear, now I've got to come up with things that I'm willing to share that I haven't already told you? These will probably be pretty insignificant; then again you did say "random".
1) I absolutely cannot wear socks to bed, but I must wear pyjamas.
2) I never take a shower when there's an option of taking a bath.
3) I've had nearly every "natural" haircolour imaginable but haven't ever dyed my hair pink, green, blue, or anything lurid like that.
THIS OR THAT QUESTIONS
Realism or Idealism?: Somewhere in the middle; I'm usually pretty realistic but I'm obviously still a bit of a dreamer, as you've most likely gathered!
Optimism or Pessimism?: I'm very much a pessimist, sad to say.
Order or Flexibility?: Flexibility, definitely. I'm chaotic, trying to impose order on me isn't likely to work, though it'd be amusing to watch.
Planning or Spontaneity?: Spontaneity, definitely.
Goals or Dreams?: A series of goals that will allow me to realize my dreams.
Practical or Abstract?: Probably a bit more abstract.
The Individual or The Collective?: The Individual. From what you've read did you expect any differently?
Standing your ground or Surrendering?: Standing my ground, unless it'll get me killed. I'm not -stupid-.
Lover or Fighter?: Probably fighter, if only because I'm hardly a lover.
Impulsive or Cautious?: Impulsive when it comes to situations, cautious when it comes to people.
Mature or Immature?: It really depends on the situation.
SITUATIONAL / IN-STORY QUESTIONS
Would you hex someone who was bothering you there and then?: You know that "really bad temper" thing I mentioned? Yeah, I probably would if someone pissed me off badly enough. Give 'em boils or make their hair fall out or something.
What do you see in the Mirror of Erised?: Myself, independent and free of negative emotions, in the aforementioned Victorian-style house with a couple kittens weaving between my legs, and I'd think I was beautiful.
What special wizarding power - i.e. Animagi, Metamorphagi, being a Seer - would you want to have?: I would love to be a Metamorphmagus, if nothing else so that I could will away any of my perceived imperfections and mess around with eye colour without the use of coloured contact lenses and hair colour/style without the aid of a salon. :)
In what situation would you use an Unforgiveable curse?: If using it would save my own life, I'd probably use one. And unfortunately and as much as I hate to admit it, I can kind of see myself using one against someone who betrayed me horribly (see once again the aforementioned horrible temper!)
Be honest - if you were in the wizarding community, what view would you take on blood heritage? (If you don't know, perhaps put your current views of class and the like into context): I think I'd look more at things like magical talent; after all, Hermione, a Muggle-born, is brilliant while Crabbe, presumably a pure-blood, was close to worthless. And let's not forget the half-bloods like Snape, Harry, and yes, even Tom Riddle who accomplished great things. I'd likely look at family a little, but wouldn't base things on blood heritage alone. I'm not sure how I'd look at Muggles or Squibs though, to be honest; there's a much greater difference between a Muggle-born witch or wizard and a Muggle. Though given the way a lot of Muggles look at magic, I can't say I'd be too fond of them. I'd probably be OK with squibs (unless they were like Filch, but that's a personality thing!)
Imagine the Death Eaters come to your house, you being the head of an average wizarding family. They say join them, or otherwise give them ONE member of the family. What do you choose to do? What action perhaps would you take after making this decision? Oh geez, this is hard. (Especially since I've got no desire to be the head of a family and thus have a bit of difficulty envisioning myself as such.) 'Though I'm not the type who'd want to give up someone they cared about (like I could not see myself turning my own parents over to Death Eaters) so I'd probably end up joining myself. I see the other options as being "give them a family member who will likely be killed" or "refuse and be killed myself". It would be with a good deal of reluctance (as would joining any group; I don't play well with others) and with my (lack of) luck I'd likely get killed anyway, but if not maybe I'd try to become a spy like Snape.
Colin Creevey has been following you around all day, trying to get you to teach him a new secret spell he saw you do that he thought was cool. What do you do?: I really hope this doesn't sound too biased, as Colin kind of irritated me and is the kind of person who'd likely irritate me in real life, but I'd tell him to go bugger off.
Would you rather be attacking up close and personal, hiding far off using a type of long range attacks, or not on the battle field at all?: I'd prefer to be using long-range attacks. Even with magic I don't think I'm physically strong or coordinated enough to be up close and personal, but I'm not really the sort to stand on the sidelines unless it's something that doesn't involve me or any of my friends in the least.
FINAL QUESTIONS
If you could become any character from the series for one day - 24 hours - who would it be?: This is another of those loaded questions, isn't it? Maybe Luna Lovegood, because of things I've stated above (in the "character you admire") part and because I think she'd be a rather interesting person to be. And then there's the hidden lustful ridiculous fangirl side to me who'd say I'd be Narcissa Malfoy, but only if Lucius really looked like Jason Isaacs (who I've always found insanely handsome) and I'm sure you can tell where I am going with this one.
If you were given the chance to permanently become part of the HP-verse (as "yourself"), would you take it?: Oh wow, absolutely! I'd open a shop in Hogsmeade and design dress robes. :)
