Oh, this is so sweet. I love the portrayal of JJ's fear and how she and Clooney manage to bond in spite of it. This is just awesome.

I think this was a great thing to explore. The terrifyingness of being in that barn with dogs that had already shredded a woman got glossed over in what happened to Reid but there is no way that wouldn't have affected JJ.

I like the way that you used Clooney & Morgan together with her.

Very nicely done.

It's easy to forget that JJ was in the barn too, especially since that's what happened in canon. I am a completely biased narrator in that I love dogs, so the idea that maybe JJ used to like dogs but doesn't anymore was really interesting to write.

Thank you, glad you enjoyed it

First of all: big bonus points for research. This was an exceptionally realistic portrayal of a post-traumatic phobia -- espeically that just because one dog is okay now not all dogs are okay now.

Your characterization of Morgan and JJ were refreshingly spot-on. JJ tends to get characterized as a manipulative bitch and Morgan a dull-brained thug in fandom. Your fic had them flawed, but they were still essentially caring and smart people. I love how on the ball Morgan was and that JJ knew what was happening intellectually even though her viscereal response wasn't something she could stop.

Great fic.

:D You've hit on the two things I had noted that might not come across right in the story. I think it's important to be accurate with post-traumatic anything and I thought Morgan might come across as a bit of an idiot here, so I'm really glad you thought the story worked on both points.

Your point on characterization for Morgan is a bit surprising to me. I have come across JJ as the manipulative bitch, but haven't (yet!) seen Morgan as the thug. I suppose it's not surprising, given his tendency to tackle people, but I think his most defining trait is how he'll take off your head if you so much as look at his team sideways.

Thank you so much for your comments!

I would like to comment on what dragonladyk wrote.

Morgan a dull-brained thug

Because Morgan is essentially the "muscle" in the team he is often written as a "blonde" that can only use his toughness to get things done. I think this is wrong and your fic points out that Morgan is so much more then that. He is compationate and thoughtfull, and yes, sometimes his first responce is to go and kick some ass but more often it´s not. He does banter with almost anyone on the team but to me it´s his way to tell them that he cares and I think it´s been proven that he is very protective of his team mates.

Your fic mirrors him perfectly, I really liked the picture you painted of him and how he sensed that JJ wanted to love dogs again and with patient thaught her to love Clooney.

Edit because my HTML skills are visiting relatives at the moment.

I really like this! I love JJ and have always been a little disappointed that a show that is so great with subtlety and human behaviour hasn't shown us anymore about the barn and the dogs and how they have affected her.

The abrupt way the writers handle their storylines is the one thing that annoys me about CM. Though it does make some great opportunities for fanfiction writers. :)

Thanks for reading!
