1. Character's Name: Chloe Saunders 2. Fandom: Darkest Powers trilogy written by Kelley Armstrong, including her short stories on her blog. 3. Time Frame: After the third book in the series, The Reckoning. 4. Age: Just turned 16
5. Background: Chloe’s mother died in a car crash when she was in first grade. She’s moved around a lot because of her dad’s job, and is fairly wealthy thanks to her father, but she sees her Aunt Lauren (her mother’s sister) more often than she sees her dad. In Chloe’s Freshman year at AR Gurney, an art school she was promised she would be able to attend all four years at, Chloe began to see ghosts and was chased through her school by a dead custodian, thus causing a scene that landed her in the hospital and then into a group home: Lyle House

6. Personality: Chloe is relatively quiet and shy-to a point. She has a speech impediment-a stutter-that comes out whenever she is stressed, nervous, or usually lying. To close friends, her stutter is a dead give away to whatever emotion Chloe is trying desperately not to convey. She is kind, often being described as ‘too nice,’ and is an exceedingly loyal friend. She hates feeling inferior to others, and can’t stand others trying to help her talk through her stutter if it happens to emerge. She loves movies and directing and screen writing, and prides herself on not being the scared and dumb little heroine of some story who always acts in some dumb or irrational manner. She is afraid of the dark, and is exceptionally jumpy. She sees ghosts, and can accidentally return spirits to their decaying bodies, therefore she has every right to be jumpy. She is rational and dependable, and knows when to listen to someone’s advice. She is also exceedingly stubborn in some respects, and refuses to let others see her moments of weakness if she can

10. Languages: Fluent in English, and knows a little Spanish.
11. Items: She has her amulet, that protects her from possession and too much unwanted attention from ghosts, the clothes on her back, cash in her shoe and in her pockets, and a (now dulled) switchblade she has taken to carrying.
12. Weapons: A switch blade that is now exceedingly dull.
13. Writing sample - Third Person Prose: Chloe leaned over the dead homeless man, holding her breath against the scent of rot and decay. It was times like this she was glad she didn’t have Derek’s super-human sense of smell. She didn’t want to know what death smelled like to him.
Just back away slowly, think of anything but spirits trapped back in their bodies, and we’ll be good, Chloe thought to herself, sneaking a peak behind her, half expecting Derek to jump out at her and give her hell for once again tracking down a dead guy with her senses.
Still. Something about this one seemed…different. Off slightly. In learning more about herself and her abilities, she needed to explore and

14. Writing sample - First Person: Fear knotted from within as I took in my surroundings-unfamiliar surroundings. I sat up, clutching the covers with trembling fingers as I scanned the rest of the tiny and bereft room.
“Oh no. No no no.” I scrambled to my feet as icy fear trekked down my spine. I shivered. How could they have found us? How could I have gotten captured? More importantly, where were the others?
“A-Aunt Lauren?” I hated the catch that sounded in my throat. “D-Derek?” Panic seized me. Was he nearby? Would he hear me? Then realization dawned.
Werewolf. Dangerous. Expendable.I sprang to my feet, hands opening and closing into fists as I contemplated what I should do. Was this the St. Cloud’s doing? Had the Cabal finally managed to catch up with us
