NPR had a great story about the sagging situation in Dallas. Check it out. I played it for my high school students today. They were very opinionated about it. That was a good day in the classroom.

Sure, lets regulate how to dress, how to talk, what to read, what to listen too, where you can go, who you can see and what you can eat or drink while we are at it. Oh, wait they are already regulating what we can eat (trans-fat ban in NYC), they are trying to regulate what we can listen to (Fairness Doctrine), they are trying to regulate what doctor we can see, how often we see him and what shots we have to force upon our kids (national health plan), they tell us we can't report a suspicious looking person without threat of defamation lawsuit...the list goes on and on. It does not surprise me that they are trying to outlaw saggy pants. It pisses me off, but does not surprise me. We live in an atmosphere of big government, Politicians think we need government to control every aspect of our lives and keep us safe from ourselves which is the very idea our founding fathers rebelled against 231 years ago
