Friday night, my boyfriend and I were wandering around the old Navy Yard in Charlestown. It was pretty late, sometime around midnight I believe, and we were both not completely sober and a bit cloudy if you know what I mean. Man, that must've been scary.

This brought me back to a pet peeve of mine: even sober women need male-friend escorts to not get harassed in their own neighborhoods after dark. Isn't this supposed to be a free country? It's insane.

I know. I don't leave my house alone after about 11pm or I get weirdos pulling over asking me if I need a ride. And I'm like, "Thanks, but I think I'd prefer to walk the 1 block to my place instead of being raped and killed tonight."

However, I have never before experienced anything like that man's behavior before. It was just so bewildering! It wasn't just the run of the mill scare a woman because your either really dumb or really get off on threatening women behavior. It really seemed like he was the actual rare hide behind the bushes and rape a woman type. Those types of dude, and that type of crime are fortunately not at all common, but still it was a wake up call!
