BT engineer arrived this morning. Found corroded wires outside. Fixed. No charge. But he was a good bloke, chatty, so I gave him £20 for a few pints. Though I've noticed it helps to have a 'Support Your Local Hells Angels Nomads' sticker across the inside of the front door ( Read more... )

I wish I could say Virgin Cable will be better but in my experience all providers are the same and work on similar "customer service" model". In Australia I spent time talking to client service people in India who as you say are very polite but achieve nothing. In France I instead talk to people in North Africa. recently I was advised by one company that I should replace my laptop even though I had explained the problem was the same on various devices! This was after they had taken control of my computer remotely and deleted everything from it when the reset it... I just hate telecoms. I find it really hard to stay calm when dealing with them because they are so fucking stupid!

Hope the cable works well for you. I've had Virgin broadband for many years and have been pretty happy with it.

This very week BT disconnected my elderly mothers phoneline in error and gave the number to a new customer. (It had been our family number for the last 40 years). Needless to say my mother was traumatised, but after an hour on his phone to India my brother managed to get the message through, and today they've sorted it. Still - poor show BT; glad you gave them what they deserved!

Think I am moving out of it all. Can't be arsed. Life is easier without it.
