And I'd like to think if there was a God, He'd think my soul was just as good as anyone else's.
totally true. and you have an excellent soul :) you're a brilliant person, and a loving person... and i think, personally, thats all that matters.
belief and/or trying to believe is only part of it... living your life in the right way (which i personally think its what you think is right, along side a little bit of guidance from the Bible) is all you really need to do.
i constantly get into arguments with so-called "Christians" about homosexuality. and they always tell me "its wrong because the Bible says so"
i always ask them "then why would it be possible for them to BE gay? why would God make that an option in the gene pool if it wasn't ok? and how EASY is it to tell all your friends: 'Hey, man, just so you know, you're going to Hell'?" there's no way.
i think there was a more of a point i was going for here... but i think i lost it... so thats my two cents, sort of. :) <3
I'm glad that you still like Riverview. When I saw what the topic was going to be yesterday, I got kind of scared. I thought, "Oh great, the first time Nathan comes back to Riverview, the sermon just happens to be about homosexuality." I was pretty confident that Riverview would cover the topic well, but I was still a little uneasy. I feel that homosexuality could be a big reason for you to dislike Riverview or God. I don't think it necessarily has to mean that though.
I think there are several good conversation starters in this post, and it is unfortunate that they did not come up while we were together. I always like discussing things face-to-face better. When you write things on the Internet, somewhere around 93% of what you're saying is lost.
I don't want to write out a huge comment saying everything I want to say, because it would be super duper long and might come off a different way than I intend. However, here are some things I would like to discuss:
1. "How can you believe in something that places so much
