I'm reading the absolutely true diary of a part time indian. Someone on my flist mentioned Smoke Signals the other day, and I'd almost forgotten how his stories take me from laughing to crying, in a split second with a few well ordered sentences, like: Arnold got arrested, you know. But he got lucky. They charged him with attempted murder. Then they plea-bargained that down to assault with a deadly weapon. Then they plea-bargained that down to being an Indian in the Twentieth Century

I'm also ecstatic that Billy Collins new poetry book is out, and I must find a copy soon to get my hands on.
