OMG you are the best, I feel like I got an early Christmas prezzie. Now, off to do what Jack would do, and pray to ALL the GODS that we get more soon. Can't wait to see what Dr Samuel's and Teddy come up with to save my Jip. His unrepentant glee and thankfulness at the Pearl's safety and escape made me smile. I could picture Norrie's confusion.
Cheers!

OHMYWORD...I HAD THOUGHT YOU BEST BEFORE, BUT THE PEARkl and Jip's utter joy...I'M HAVING SUCH DELIGHTFUL HISTRONICS, TEARS AND LAUGHTER ALL JUMBLEY.

Okay, to only sniffles now and I'm so happy becos maybe Norrington can be saved. And Sparrow's connection to the world, that fine sweet thread that runs through us all if we can only see and accept....and what a joyous hoot...Jack with Gods on his side!!!!!!! And Jip[...

Wow! Thank you for every syllable. God love how my body remembers sailing and how your words stir those feelings like fuel on a fire.... like tossing matches for spring burns, watch the saw grass bubble first as the heat catches up, then flames! Makes me weak...in that happy old energy way. More later...gots to go to bed now, what a goooooood read.

*bounce* So happy you liked this. I know you've been very patient with my slow updating, but readers like you make me determined to finish. This story has been a whole lot about tears and laughter, so I'm delighted that it's still inspiring those.

I love all the characters in this story, so I'm always happy to hear others care about them too.

You're welcome for every syllable. I'm glad it brings back sailing memories. One of my edit trips through this chapter was specifically to add the beauty of the sea. Thank you so much for your kind words.

Okay, you know what you've writ, now here's the parts what raised me so high and brought me to tears and if it takes you til I'm 112 , I'll still be reading.
there were ... men aboard that Naval vessel ... the pleasantly bumbling set of marines who had enjoyed his stories and who had hauled him off...the young lieutenant ...so thoughtful to offer him refreshment after that grueling passage ... who’d called him “Captain”; the commodore..., resplendent ...in blue and gold and white, .. honourable foe...a good man. And he would remember kindness served and hate the death of any living energy. Jack walks the line twixt two extremes.

In the eternal, panic-cloyed moments ...the Dauntless had never appeared so immoveable, as if the sea, becoming viscous, clung to her sides. Her vast bulk refused to respond to the urgent efforts of her crew with anything more than her customary grand deliberation. ... the Dauntless remained serenely indifferent to her peril. Wow! Having done a bit of racing/sailing, crewing or two handing on a 30 ( ... )

Thank you so much for your lovely comments. I do hope it won’t take me until you’re 112 to finish this! The next chapter is already off to beta-reading, and the one after that is outlined ( ... )

So glad to get another chapter of this, one of the best PotC fics ever written!

And that's not a phrase I throw around.

You know, every time you update this story, I check that I have nothing planned in the next hour, settle on the couch with a cup of tea and a blanket, and have myself a lovely time. Reading this story is like slipping back into a warm dressing gown or something, because no matter how often you do it you know you'll have a great time :o) This chapter is wonderful. The tension in the earlier part had nothing to envy to the best spaghetti westerns, and my word, the Pearl's run was told so beautifully the words sang. Then of course you give us Norrington's mental debate about the right thing to do and have him stick to the lawful thing to do, which is sometimes very different. I love the way you write his interactions with Dr Samuels; they echo Aubrey and Maturin in the officer/doctor dynamics, but still remain unique to their own characters. I do hope Samuels and Groves will be able to find a loophole - that's good pirate thinking, by the way! - and that somehow Jip will be able to let the Pearl's crew that he's alive, if not quite whole ( ... )

What a wonderful cozy picture you paint. Writing this story has also been a place of comfort and refuge for me. When things get too stressful, I dive into this world in my head and, as you say, have a great time. I'm thrilled to know that this chapter succeeds in so many of the things I try hard to include: the tension, the beauty of ships and the sea, and what seems to have become my theme--the value of the human heart. Poor Norrington is having a hard day with his conscience at war with his duty. I'm glad you're enjoying the good Doctor and his efforts to save Jip and James. Thank you for patiently waiting for me to cobble these chapters together and for such lovely comments.
