Alys. I checked the place out; found a few details, nothing really substantial. There were unmarked canisters in the ventilation system, and a few neighbors say that they saw three big guys snooping around the building earlier. Two of them were the ones in the video. Dunno about the third.

I saw someone else on the second level talking about how people can't die here. I'm guessing he meant people who were brought in like we were, since those others . . . [trails off] You know anything about whether it's true or not?

...yeah, it's true. I saw someone die, and then saw them walking around like two days later. I don't know if it's true for every time, but...

We're gonna have to find a way to contain him. I've got my Stop Blade materia with me, but that's only going to hold him for so long.

[Cloud shakes his head ruefully.] I don't have anything on me besides a couple phoenix downs. Unless this guy is some kind of super soldier, we should be able to contain him once we knock him down, right?

Yeah. He's insane and crafty, but doesn't look particularly strong. That's why he had the muscleheads.

[Cloud folds his arms.] He uses chemical warfare. He could be hiding bombs or gases anywhere on himself; we'll have to be careful.

Especially since we don't have anything to guard against that. I've got some remedies on me, but I don't know if they'll work with whatever it is he's using.

I doubt he'd carry any sleeping or paralying gas on himself, since there's a chance he could inhale it, but...I guess it doesn't hurt to be cautious. [scuffs a hand through his hair] Damn it. I wish I'd thought to equip materia before I left.

If he uses gases in general he's probably got some way of protecting himself from them, so don't rule out the chances of him bringing that along. Although my bets are on anything nasty and lethal. Like chlorine, maybe.

I've got a full set, so I can lend you some of mine if you have the slots.

First Tsurugi only has four slots, all linked, but I don't have a bracer on so that's all I've got. The mission I was on wasn't supposed to be very hard, so I didn't weigh myself down, something I'm beginning to regret now.

I was on my way back from a pretty heavy extermination, so I've got almost everything short of Ultima. [checks his slots and rattles them off] Hell Thundaga, Regen, Graviga, Stop Blade, High Jump, and Dispel. Got a handful of summons, too.

Whoa whoa whoa. [Cloud holds up a hand, puzzled.] "Thundaga, Graviga?" What the hell are those? Thunder and...gravity materia? Demi?

Right, you're a Second, you can't do materia fusion. [pops Hell Thundaga out of its slot and flips it in the air once before throwing it to Cloud] It's like Master Bolt, only it also hits the enemy with poison, silence, stop, and death every once in a while. Graviga's pretty much Master Demi.

[lookin' at the materia in his hand with kid-in-a-candy-store eyes, Zack. You're not getting this back without a very, very sad look.] Oh man...I've never even heard about materia fusion. When I get back I'm gonna clobber Zack for not telling me.

[glances up awkwardly] Erm, nothing against you, I mean.

[grinning slightly despite himself] Probably because only Firsts are allowed to handle 'em. They can be pretty powerful.

Kinda wish I had Tri-Firaga with me, too. Could've come in handy.

Oh. [hands back the materia, kind of disappointed. Shiny magic is nice, but not if it could explod in his face because he doesn't have the experience.]

Well, you still have some pretty nice stuff with you. I don't think that freak'll be a problem with what you've got.
