If I could just stop getting sick, that would be nice. I mean really. I feel like I've gotten one illness after another for the past 3 weeks.  Guh. Hate ( Read more... )

you can get a new battery for your laptop if it has gone downhill for a lot less than a new computer. For a little less than a MacBook Pro and a lot more than a MacBook, you would be getting something that does weigh less than your current laptop, but it is a lot less powerful than your MacBook, you'd still have to buy the external optical drive to install Windows and a USB ethernet adapter for non-wireless environments, and you'd probably still want to use another system to backup to.

It's not that the battery has gone downhill, it's that my new hard drive sucks the life out of the battery more quickly than the old one. 100 GB vs 40 GB. Bit of a difference. Fully charged it has a battery life of 2 hours at best.

I just assumed the Air was more powerful than my MacBook. Since it isn't, I won't get it. I'm just frustrated with my lappy. It's impossible to clean out the keyboard, which, to my disgust, keeps getting infested with ants. Additionally, pieces of plastic lining at the edges are actually peeling off. I wish it had a nicer graphics card whenever I look at my screen's presentation of WoW and then compare it to someone else who has a gaming spec'd computer. I also find myself frustrated by the limitations of a Mac and miss playing life-consuming flash games.

The size of the drive shouldn't have any effect on the battery, although different brands/models might consume varying amounts of power ( ... )

Apple just upgraded their entire laptop line, and the new MacBooks have greatly upgraded specs, including a new look, an NVIDIA gpu (although it still shares main memory, there is more main memory to share, not to mention it is faster), and it weighs about half a pound lighter. Their marketing bullshytt also claims that the new system has up to 5 times the graphics performance of the previous MacBook, which wasn't all that different from yours.

Your Macbook, as I recall
The new MacBookArs Technica will probably have a performance review up within the week, comparing actual performance to older models and other brands ( ... )
