Quick comment re: piano. Unless you truly are planning the hail of lead death that had been mentioned, tell the bleeding heart guilt trippers who whined at you to come pick the damn thing up. With the weather in flux as it is, if the sound board is ANY good, it won't stay so for long. Temperature changes will cause it to crack under the tension of the strings. When that happens, the thing is pretty much so much firewood.
Suggestion: Post a note at WXXI saying you have a FREE AS-IS piano for a person willing to refinish it and take it away (in the reverse order of that sentence, of course:) One of those free-loaders, I mean bleeding hearts, I mean conscientious people will possibly take it away for you.
Funny, to everyone who said "You should refinish that" I asked the question "Want a piano?". No takers. hm.
I have a coworker who wants the wood for some projects, and we have other takers for the keys. After it's been divvied up, the hail of lead will commence. :)
Dude, it looks like a "meet the ancestors" episode on the history channel, except for floors insted of people. ;-)
But I can absolutely sympathize from our Utica days. And unless you or bea or the cats can play it, ditch the piano. The weight doesn't help a floor much.
