We are in Portland at Frances' nieces' house after two weeks on the coast without cell access. Coast was great --later.

At Frances' mom's in Twain Harte with an OK connection and a little time, so;

Crossed the Macinac bridge and visited the Soo locks in Sault St. Marie then went west along the south shore of aptly named Lake Superior. Saw the Pt. iroquois lighthouse and then Tahquamenon Falls.(7351)

We have been too busy to update. Will do so as soon as I get some down time in range of a Cingular tower. We are in Wheatland, Wyoming right now.

Drove the Huron coast road to Mackinaw City where a local woman tipped us to a great free campsite on French Farm Lake. It is quiet, secluded, and beautiful.

Stopped for lunch and a wade at the Sturgeon Point lighthouse.

Drove up the east coast road to Bay city, stopping for lunch and a swim in Lake Erie. Stayed in a nice state park on a famous bird watching marsh.

Visited Croswell where Frances' ancestors farmed from the 1840's till the 1940's after immigrating from Scotland. There was a picture of her great great grandma was hanging in the high school. We talked to a women who's daughter was the recipient of a scholarship the family set up in HER name. Also went to Applegate where Fran's great grandma ( Read more... )

We traveled from Pittsburgh to Dundee MI, partially along a little road that hugged the shore of Lake Erie. We stopped for sandwiches and a swim in Vermilion in a little neighborhood park. Overnighted in the parking lot of Cabelas where we showed much restraint at the tent sale. There is a definite relationship between the attractiveness for good ( Read more... )

We stayed with cousins Fredrica and Ken in Pittsburgh. Parked in a quiet little culdesac around the corner from their lovely home. Friday night we sipped good scotch and cigars on the porch and sealed the deal on a June 2007 Dive trip. Saturday we munched and shopped on the Strip, then visited with cousin Lucy and her two adorable three year olds. ( Read more... )
