^ what she said. When i read "east of new york", i just got horrifying visions of the 2+ hrs i spent sitting in traffic on long island today. My advice: don't go to long island.

We can make it even more interesting and include Nova Scotia, Bermuda, France, Ethopia, Nepal, and Liechtenstein, to name a few :)

I'm not in Boston, I'm 1-2 hours away (depending on traffic) in Worcester. I have a "guest room" if you're interested.

Boston is freakin' awesome. There's a strong nerd/gamer community in the hella-lotta schools out here. There's good gaming stores and LARPs around. If you like the hip sort of scene at all, Boston's good for that, too. Also, it's only an hour drive away from Portsmouth NH, which is a great little town on the coast which has lots of awesome stores and places to hang out.

Do you mean maybe "New England" or something?

If you need a place to stay in the Boston area, I'm a ~15 minute subway ride from MIT and have a big ol' couch. Or, if you're not coming til July, there's an empty bedroom.

Nerdy things include: museums (Museum of Science, Museum of Fine Arts, Gardner Museum, MIT museum, Museum of Contemporary Art, Harvard Natural History Museum, the Museum of Bad Art in Dedham [requires a car]...), the Aquarium (penguins!!!), visiting historic spots and learning about the history of Boston (molasses!), nerd shopping (comic book stores, scifi book stores, gaming stores), nerd drinking (bars with names like the Thirsty Scholar), and so on. If you want more detailed recommendations, send me an email (address is in my user info); I've been nerding it up in Boston for four years now.

Speaking of sweet museums, the Decordova Museum in Lincoln, MA is pretty awesome. That is, the huge sculpture park.
