summary: through the hardship Ryosuke goes through with his mother, he meets Inoo Kei, a new, fresh teacher at his high school, who provides an escape from his hard life.
part one part two part three part four/five This was not good.
Inoo was ignoring him, like, really ignoring him. Ryosuke spent the rest of the week trying to talk to him during lunch and after class, but Inoo always evaded him, claiming he was busy and had somewhere else to be, or just straight up walking away while he was talking.
Why was he acting like this? Inoo said he wanted it to, and yet here he was, being shunned by the man. He could understand if Inoo didn’t want to do this thing, but damn, he should at least have the balls to tell him to his face, rather than acting like a girl and avoiding him at every turn.
He finally got his chance to talk to him a week before Halloween, after spotting Inoo in Shibuya, thankfully alone. Running over to the man, he grabbed Inoo by the wrist and dragged him into an alleyway, ignoring his angry protests. Throwing Inoo against the wall, Ryosuke glared at him and said, “You’re avoiding me.”
“Of course I am avoiding you!” Inoo shouted, looking like he could murder Ryosuke, “We fucking slept together, do you realize how big of a problem that is?!”
“Of course I do, I’m not stupid,” Ryosuke’s fists tightened against Inoo’s chest, “But at least have the decency to tell me we’re not doing this to my face, rather than behaving like some deranged teenage girl.”
Inoo’s nostrils flared, his breathing angry as he stared down at Ryosuke. “Fine, we are not doing this. I’m your teacher, you’re my student, and that night was a mistake.”
“No it wasn’t,” Ryosuke immediately said, defending it, “That night was fucking perfect to me, you asshole. Don’t you dare say it was a mistake!”
“Whatever,” Inoo finally succeeded in shoving him aside, stalking out of the alleyway without a second glance. Blood boiling under his skin, Ryosuke resisted the urge to punch the wall and went home, beating on his pillow instead.
Stupid Inoo, making him so angry, tears spilling down his cheeks. He wasn’t just angry though, he felt hurt, betrayed, and more than a little used. He wanted to find Inoo and beat his face in, and then kiss him senseless until they fucked again.
Feeling his energy seeping away, Ryosuke gave his pillow one last tired punch before flopping over, falling asleep within moments, but not before thinking that school was going to be hell on Monday.

Mirai seemed to know something was wrong the moment he came into class, as if there was a dark, thunderous rain cloud over his head that said, ‘Don’t fuck with me or I will kill you.’
“What’s wrong Ryo-chan?” she asked, voice gentle as she hugged him and gave him a small peck, “Did something happen with your mom?”
“No,” he answered, resting his forehead on her shoulder as he sighed, his anger deflating the longer he stayed in her arms. “It’s a long story, but I’ll get over it.”
“You sure?”
“Yeah, come on, we should take our seats,” he said, sitting down in his chair just as Inoo entered the room. He was wearing his usual outfit, boring slacks and a collared shirt. Loser, Ryosuke tried to insult the older man in his head, but then the thoughts of that loser thrusting into him popped into his mind, and he felt overwhelmingly depressed.
Unable to pay attention in class, Ryosuke doodled in the margins of his notebook, drawing a childish sketch of him and Mirai beheading Inoo.
The next few weeks passed by in the same manor, and his grades began to drop a little. Not enough to affect his standing in the class, but it was still a bit of a disappointment. Vowing to do better in the future, even if that meant listening to Inoo’s lectures and remembering the way he sounded when he came, Ryosuke packed up his school bag for the day and grabbed his scarf and mittens.
It was almost December now, and the weather outside was too chilly for his liking. Half-cuddling Mirai on their walk to the train station, Ryosuke regretfully let go of her warm body so that she could board her train home. Stepping onto his when it arrived, Ryosuke kept his thoughts occupied, careful to not let himself think of Inoo.
He was beginning to suspect that he might actually like the older man, beyond the physical level and more than a simple crush. Why else would he be griping about the fact that they didn’t talk anymore, and that whenever they saw each other outside of school, Inoo would look down at him with a glare and walk away. It hurt, every single time, and he didn’t know how to get over this.
Stepping through the front door, thoughts of Inoo drifted away on their own accord as he took care of his mother.

“You’re doing what with who during winter break?!” Ryosuke looked up at Mirai in shock, wondering if she’d gone completely insane.
“I’m ditching my parents stupid vacation and staying at Yuma’s instead,” she answered, arms crossed in front of her.
“And your parents are okay with that?!”
“Of course not, dumbass,” Mirai rolled her eyes, “My parents think I’m ditching so that I can spend the holiday with Aki, and she’s going to cover for me, so that I can have two, amazing Yuma-filled weeks.”
“What about his parents?”
“They’re up north visiting his grandma, and won’t be back until school starts again. Oh, Ryosuke,” she gushed, grabbing his hands across the table and smiling at him affectionately, “I’m so excited!”
“You’re going to sleep with him, aren’t you?”
Mirai’s eyes widened, and she remained quiet.
“No!” Ryosuke jumped to his feet, “No sex for you, do you hear me? You two have not been dating long enough to consummate your relationship!”
“Will you keep your fucking voice down?” Mirai leaned over and yanked on his tie, forcing him to sit back down. “Look, it’s not a guaranteed thing, but if it happens, I’m not stopping it. I really like him, Ryosuke.”
“I know, it’s just,” Ryosuke frowned, “Okay, I really don’t have a good excuse, I’m just overly protective of you. You’ll be safe, right?”
“Of course,” Mirai patted his hand, before returning back to her bento, giving Ryosuke the vegetables and rice on a little plate she had brought with her. “Eat up now, God knows when your mother will go grocery shopping and you’ll have food in your house again.”
Ryosuke nodded, eating the vegetables and rice hungrily. He hadn’t eaten since last night, after knicking a few bags of chips from the grocery store and takoyaki from his favorite cart. He hated stealing, but as long as his mother didn’t find out, he was safe.
Hearing the bell ring, the two got up and went back to class, Ryosuke patting his full stomach happily. Taking his seat, he leaned back in his chair and watched Inoo, a sense of longing mixing with his full stomach, and making him feel nauseas. Ignoring it for now, he took notes on Inoo’s lecture, the rest of class passing by until the final bell rang.
Only three more days now until winter break, and although he had no plans, he was relieved at the prospect of not seeing Inoo for two weeks.

Two more days, and his sad little heart could finally get the healing time it needed.

Final bell rang, and the students rushed out of school, Ryosuke and Mirai among them. They danced happily as they exited the school, their arms around each other as they twirled about. When Yuma shyly stepped over, Mirai broke away from the hug and pounced on the tall boy, giving him a cute kiss on the cheek. Stealing one for himself before he left, Ryosuke wished the two a Merry Christmas and was off, excited to go crawl back into his warm bed and just hibernate there for two weeks.
This plan worked well for a few days, until his mother came barging into his room one morning, screaming at him at the top of her lungs. He wasn’t even sure what she was mad about, but one second she was at the door, the next on top of him, punching him with closed fists as she took her drunken rage out on him.
He tried to stop her, but her fists were quick, and he rather get beaten than have to hurt her, since that seemed to be the only way he could stop her. Taking the blows in stride, he tried not to flinch as he felt blood gush from his nose, hoping she hadn’t just broken it. That’d be a pain to explain to a doctor, like the times when he was a kid and his mother hit him so bad he had to be hospitalized, or she’d accidentally broken one of his bones.
When she stopped and left him alone, his face felt sore, and very tender. Carefully, he packed a few outfits, grabbing some socks and underwear as well. Slipping out the door and past his sleeping mother on the couch, he left the house, not even thinking of where he’d sleep, just knowing that he needed to get away for a few days.
Halfway down the street, it began to pour rain, and by the time Ryosuke reached his favorite park, he was shivering head to toe, his clothes plastered to his wet body. Damn, he couldn’t sleep out here in this, but what other choice did he have?
…well, there is someone not too far away, a little voice in his head said, someone who wouldn’t be able to say anything, since that would draw attention to your relationship.
Hoping he was heading in the right direction, Ryosuke kept an eye out for Inoo’s apartment building, his heart hammering in his chest. After about twenty minutes and a few wrong turns, Ryosuke finally found the place, his body physically hurting from the intense cold. Riding the elevator to the fourth floor, Ryosuke found apartment 4B and knocked, praying that Inoo was home.
He was, thank God, because at that moment he fainted, collapsing into Inoo’s arms as his whole world went black.
