I have spent much of the last 13 hours feeling quite sick of this whole waking world thing we live in. Coughed so hard I vomited right before bed last night, and the thought of food threatens to begin that process anew. Rubbernecking begets only more rubbernecking. Smoke was billowing from a spot in the distance, so traffic naturally began to slow. I had a nightmare last week. It ended in my mother returning to the same emotionally unfulfilling, verbally abusive marriage I made such strides to help her leave.

Today she said she wants to go back to him. She said he's showing actual efforts to fix things.

It is a reproach to humanity that we believe we can change each other.
