Acid. Acid. Oh holy shit. She has been informed that neither she nor her friends are ever welcome in my house again. Now the question is should I go to the cops?

How did you find out?

FWIW, back in the late 70s our house-sitter left a joint on our coffee table, and we didn't turn him in, correctly guessing that it was a phase Ronnie was going through. But it may have been self-medication, give his cause of death, a few years ago.

There's a hell of a difference between a joint and acid.

Basically.

I just don't want to get in trouble because these irresponsible children were doing drugs in my house.

better acid than alcohol IMHO. at least with acid nobody's at risk of getting horribly sick, dying, or driving and killing themselves/someone else. acid is a relatively harmless drug- actually the only real risk (other than a bad trip which is very easily avoided) is for people who have mental illnesses such as schizophrenia.

would you go to the cops if they'd just been drinking instead of tripping? if you would, then yes, call the police, but if you wouldn't, don't get them in more trouble just because of your prejudices against drugs- most of your opinions about it are most likely based on anti-drug propaganda, rather than fact.

Do you really not see the difference between people drinking without your knowledge in your house and people doing illegal drugs without your knowledge in your house? One is perfectly legal, though stupid and irresponsible. The other is stupid and irresponsible, but also something that could potentially get us in a big heap of trouble, because it is illegal.

Neither mom nor I personally care if someone does drugs. We do care that they did them on our property without our knowledge or consent.

I get that it's a liability issue and you want to cover your asses, but from all the previous posts about this saga there didn't seem to be any desire to go to the cops when it was thought it was just alcohol being used. Having people drinking at your house could also potentially get you in just as much, if not more trouble, since people could have died, or driven drunk and killed someone else. My point was that nothing like that happens when you take acid. Yes it's obviously a problem that they were doing illegal drugs in your house without your knowledge, but it's just as much of a problem that so many people were drinking- something that's ACTUALLY dangerous- in your house.

Okay, this is a bullshit argument. First of all, someone tripping on acid is equally dangerous behind the wheel of a car as someone who's drunk - possibly moreso since acid is a hallucinogen, not a depressant. Alcohol doesn't cause people to see things that are not there, it just slows reaction time and impairs judgement.

Secondly, we can't be held liable for people drinking in our house. They weren't doing anything illegal, and so there's no point in going to the cops about drinking. They were all twenty-somethings. We CAN be held accountable for it if they left drugs in our house. People have lost their homes because someone left drugs in their house. What we're angry about is NOT the drugs, but that they decided to take that risk for us.

Whatever you do, you can take them to civil court (small claims) and sue them for damages done to your home. You can file yourself without a lawyer if need be. These folks do need to know the consequences of their actions.
