She’s very clearly irritated.
This is too easy.
You’ve been pestering her for the last half an hour to make more of her perfect coffee. You watch her from the recliner chair in your office, Nintendo DS poised in your hands.
She moves fluidly like she always does, graceful and precise. She tosses the old filter into the trash. Next she adds coffee beans to the grinder, pulsing them a certain number of times.
You smile knowingly at the whirring sound because you know that in a few minutes a fresh cup of coffee will be brought into your office.
She inserts a new filter then tips in the freshly ground beans. Filtered water is added to the coffee pot and the appliance is switched on.
It’s not until she sits down at the conference table that you stop watching her and start playing your Metroid game.
“So will you stop annoying me now?” She asks, eight minutes later, presenting you with a mug of coffee.
“Nope.” Is your quick reply, carefully taking the mug from her hand. In the eighteen months she has worked for you, you’ve never stopped annoying her but at least now she fights back or just ignores you. Yeah, this is definitely too easy.
She fixes you with another of her many looks before turning and going back into the conference room.
You sip the perfect brew, savoring the flavor. There is just something about the way it tastes, like she leaves traces of herself inside of it. No one else’s coffee tastes as good as this. Not even close. Placing your mug on the bookshelf, you resume playing with the Nintendo DS. A satisfied smirk is on your face.
