Today was the annual Starbase Houston Chilli & Desert Cookoff and Sci Fi Auction, I entered the Desert division with my Red Velvet Cake, tarted up with green icing, which I called "Klingon Blood Cake" It turned out pretty well, and was popular with all the attendees and the judges too! I won First Place !

Well, Crap! Thanks to a ever evolving work schedule, I'm not gonna make it to BabelCon in Baton Rouge. I was really looking forward to it too... On the good side, the time off and cash saved there, and the fact that Vulkon was postponed, (again) will free me up for FenCon! Saw two great bands Saturday ..
The Blaggards and Brave Combo! I went with the wife and some friends to see these two bands at the lengendary Houston club Fitzgearlds last night, and they totally kicked ass! We clapped and sang along , danced , and got really drunk! Two women bought my wife and I beers because of how impressed they were seeing a guy swing-dancing in a kilt! I ( Read more... ) -
