The purpose of this post is to have an open dialogue with community members/watchers for what tutorials etc. you'd like me to research and/or write for you. Also, if you'd like to leave a comment or question about anything but didn't feel you had the proper place to do so, now is your chance. I know that I have neglected this community ( Read more... )

I'm pretty new to the community *waves hello* and wanted to say that I've discovered so many wonderful things here in the memories section. What would interest me the most at this point would be a tutorial on brushes. The problem I'm having currently is placing one part of a photo on top of different background. It tends to look very "copy and pasted", which essentially is it. I'd like to know how to use the brushes to make the two images blend together to give it a natural look.

I guess a tutorial on blending to separate images together. Or is that in the memories section and I've get to come across it? Either way, anything to do with brushes is somewhat foreign to me and would be welcome.

Try Overlay Fade, and see if that doesn't point you in a better direction. You could also try runnung the Foreground To Transparent gradient over the top image you wish to blend into the lower image, as this will make a smoother transitional fade-in. A tutorial on gradient blends is pending, just haven't gotten around to it. When I finally do, I'll give you credit for requesting it, deal?.

Thank you so much! Yes, I will try this and let you know how it works...I'm in the middle of a few photoshop projects with limited time at the moment. So much to learn...so little time, right?

Sounds like a sweet deal to me ^_^

I see you are quite an expert at Image Ready as well...I realize that is a whole other can of worms though...

Expert? No - but I can get around if I need to. It's set up almost identically to Photoshop, so navigating it is a lot easier than you would think. The animation palette is a little tricky at first, but once you get it down pat it's easy peasy.

I don't know if this is your cup of tea or not, but I would love to see a dark art tutorial, or one specifically dealing with blending.

Keep up the great work, please!

Can you be a bit more specific or show me an example? I'm not certain I know what you're talking about.

Well, Photoshop CS color matching has me mystified, if you have any advice on that. But in general, I eagerly peruse all your topics, and thank you for being such a wonderful resource and look forward to anything you wish to share.

Being that I have yet to upgrade to CS and am still on 7, I have yet to delve into this. Soon though, I hope.

Thank you for the kind words and encouragement!

Brand new, I just found this place today. Not sure if you have this somewhere already, but I would like to know how to make a picture in black and white, but have something in the picture in color. Like, someones face black and white, but have their eye be a color?

Forgive me if it's in the memory section, I didn't see it..

I'll have to try this again because last time I did, for some reason, I was having SO much trouble with it (though I do think I figured it out somewhat).

And I'm more of a PSP user who would like to start using Adobe more, but don't know where to start. So this community is definitely helpful in that sense.

I'd like to know how to make fire (not real fire, I know how to do that ;), but digital fire. :)

More specifically, there's a picture I want to change. ( this to a ball of fire (though the pic I have is bigger).

Thanks for having this community! :)
