Well, I thought it best to try and stay on the straight and narrow. That Brandi sure is a piece of work, and Sklansky is not much better. Mason is of course ignoring my post. I did get an honest exchange of PMs from Mat, who absolutely seems to me to be telling the truth.

There is an interesting situation currently on 2p2. Mason mischaracterized the history of PaulP's banning. I didn't remember it quite correctly but ended up going back and looking at the history -- and then posed an aggressive question on it to Mason that questions whether or not he's lying.

I find that hard to believe. You're just posting this here because you would get discredited if you posted this on 2+2. Next, you'll probably say something like "Mason isn't always right about poker theory, either."

What you have to realize is that a lot of people try to make a name for themselves by attacking established poker authorities like 2+2 and their authors. I did some research about you, and a Howard Treesong used to post on RPG. Is that the same you? A lot of RPG types like to criticize 2+2 but the truth is that if you don't get your information from 2+2, the only person who loses out is YOU.

Until I read your other stuff, I was sure this was sarcasm, imitating the standard 2+2 stance that Mason can do no wrong.

howard was an RGPer but he never had the hard-on for 2p2 that some did. I take him to be reasonably objective based on what I've seen him post in both forums.

I've read plenty of Mason's stuff from RGP as well as 2p2, including the exchanges at the time PP was banned. He knows a lot about poker, but he's also a jackass with a huge, tender ego who has a great deal of trouble admitting to mistakes and who will nurse wounds for a long time.

I didn't bother to research any of the current flap, because I find howard a much more believable witness than mason.

Are you talking about mistakes in moderating the website, such as who to ban? Or are you talking about poker-related mistakes?

Is this a level, or are you actually silly enough enough to believe that I didn't post on 2p2 as I say I did? I surely make mistakes or occasionaly deliberately mislead, but if you don't believe me, go look for yourself in NVG under "More On Banning."

I think you misinterpreted what I wrote. When I said "I find that hard to believe" the 'that' was intended as referring to Mason [mis]characterizing what happened. (I wasn't saying that you didn't make a post to 2+2.)

But what it comes down to is this. Don't you also agree that Mason isn't going to simply ban someone for no good reason? That's why there must have been more to it than just the "fuel on the fire" thing.

Okay, I looked at some of your posts on both sites and they seem to be from the same person. So I'll take your word for it. The reason I asked is because sometimes I see the same username on different forums, and they turn out to be different people.

Anyway, I'm going through the "bannings" thread and the "More on Banning" thread now to see if I missed anything.

Ah, I see. I have absolutely zero doubt that Mason mischaracterized it. Go look at PaulP's LJ entries in November of '05 describing it. It's pretty clear that Mason characterized the dynasty comment as a personal attack, then got his ego knob turned up when Paul was, well, Paul. I think Mason is smart but egocentric, with all the baggage that comes with that ( ... )

According to http://extempore.livejournal.com/122227.html , Mason sent Paul a message that it was apparent that Paul made derogatory comments about the site. But I don't think Paul ever said he didn't make those comments. Also it sounded like Paul literally asked to be banned as well. Paul might have LOLed when he got banned (just speculation, though ( ... )
