Meanwhile, in Providence, Rhode Island...

I have arrived home, and a new dillema has arisen that requires not so much my immediate attention, but more then local law enforcement's:  my mother is missing.

Apparently, she disappeared this morning while I was on the plane, and since she was seen before the plane landed but after it had taken off, I am not a suspect what-so-ever.  I don't ( Read more... )

Somehow when you said you had arrived home, I still managed to think you were at your house in town. I had been considering stopping by to work in your garden a bit more.

In regards to our earlier conversation about how vicious I am capable of being, how does this rate -- it may appear in my gossip column:

It has also come to my attention that there is an
overstuffed teddy bear charged with teaching a class
in this school. Should this teddy bear/teacher wish to
call this comment written here libel, I would feel the
need to remind said teacher that he has already said
rather publicly that he is in fact an overstuffed
teddy bear, and that if he now wishes to disagree, it
is likely that his name will be discovered by the
student body.

I doubt Roberts will appreciate it, but I doubt there's any way to get him to look upon me kindly at this point.

I'm not sure if I ought to be worried for your mother or not, but I would really rather worry about her. I hope you don't mind.

I wouldn't call it vicious, though it probably is considering Roberts' temperament and sensitivity towards such insignificant things.

I don't see a problem with publishing it. Don't worry about Roberts--he is harmless as long as one knows how to deal with him.

And how precisely does one deal with him? I must confess I do not have any knowledge of such.

There is no specific way. You simply...do it. Recall Miss Brooks, please.

So, are you ever going to tell us why you hate her so much?

I have given many, many examples, and Jane knows a bit more about it than anyone else due to our conversation during dinner a few nights ago.

If you are that interested, you may contact me personally, since while I do not mind explaining my feelings, I would rather spare the section of the student body that isn't interested or has a weak stomach.

Although at some point I may cease to care about their interests...and their stomachs.

I have only just now received your package. Thank you so very much, Phillips! I'm sorry I nagged you so horribly about it earlier. I take it you intend to attend the dance, but at this dance, to you intend to actually dance at all? I ask to appease my insatiable curiosity.

We shall see.

I am pleased you liked it.

You're being quite wicked, leaving me to wonder as you are. I'm not sure how many surprises I can take, you know. I'm tempted to vote for you as Homecoming King in hopes of seeing you dance whether you wish to or not, for if you are required and yet still refuse, Ms. Brooks shall fetch her bat and make sure you "play ball," as she tends to say.

I am unafraid of Ms. Brooks or any implement that she may be capable of wielding.

And you are quite lucky that the voting is confidential.
