Jammy bugger, getting those two *g* And I thought I'd been lucky!
Gorgeous characterisation of course, and so painful to go through with poor old Snape. I could feel the anger building up, and your Lucius is so perfect at taking advantage. The last two lines made me shiver, I was just that involved in it. Going off to sniffle now.
"Thanks ever so much, Lucius, but if I wanted to hear someone spouting rubbishy cliches I'd have asked my mum for help."
Yup,yup, yup. This is the eternal tragedy I see between young Lucius and young Severus -- that Severus is SO needy, and Luc always seems to see just what buttons to push to get whatever he wants out of him. In this case, Luc is no better than Dumbledore -- probably bearing more or less the same objective fondness for him as the other does, but Luc's is laden with ambition as well.
And poor Severus gives up everything for it. I hate you.
And I mean that in all the best possible ways, you understand that, don't you? Good. Just so we're straight on that point!
This is really good work, G. I really REALLY liked it. (Just in case that wasn't clear before.)
God I love a mindfuck, and this one was delicious. It pulled out Severus' emotions perfectly, and wrapped it up in his relationship with Lucius, and then the final sentences - so short and simple - just broke things, and I was left sitting there wondering how the heck it happened so fast.
And you did a great job of getting across Severus' sheer frustration and hatred towards the Marauders and Dumbledore.

*heart breaks in two* Poor Severus! And yet, what else would we expect from Lucius *scowls*
Utterly fantastic characterization on both parts, and a mixture of incredible hotness and sadness.
