*cries* Oh, poor, poor Severus. This is totally how I see their relationship...the trust fostered between Lucius and Severus, Severus' hatred for Dumbledore and the Gryffindors and his father and his own weakness, Severus hesitant but driven by reckless passion. Lucius is positively sinful in his seduction both of body and mind, and darling Severus, so trusting, so uplifted by the elder's interest in him after all the authority figures in his life have let him down...
The last two lines were absolutely KILLER, but I just have to say...the line about the potions supplies that Lucius gave him being sold by his father is the one that sticks with me, because OUCH man. Just...ouch.
I love you, Gina. Totally and completely. You own my soul.
I think I'll have to echo the countless "ouch"s that have been posted so far. My poor Severus...
It's all so real - you make us feel Severus's pride and amazement at the fact that he is writhing under him, and it's ever so tragic how he really wants to stay on the 'right' side, but is both pushed and pulled over to Voldemort.
Wow - that was great! Loved your characterization of Severus all the way through, and the wonderful confrontation between him and Dumbledore and the multi-layered seduction by Lucius (damn him!). And that ending - ow. (A good ow, that is.)
