Thoughts on 9/11

7 years ago, I sat in a dorm room at Keene College in New Hampshire contemplating my next move. I was watching television and surfing the internet for plane tickets back to either Memphis or Colorado.  I was just out of a very bad relationship, I had 500.00 to my name, my father had had 3 strokes and been hospitalized for a month and my grandfather

I, too, was in a college dorm room. Lying in bed trying to finish reading "The Glass Menagerie" for my drama class at 10:00 (CST). A friend IMed me and said something about a plane and towers...I really didn't know what she was talking about until my friend came down the hall and told me to turn on my TV. I remember it being surreal. The image of the smoke-filled NY skyline. I immediately called home as my dad was a pilot for American Airlines and I knew he flew to NY often. Thankfully, he was home safe having just returned from a trip. The whole day just stands out as surreal to me.

I think surreal is a great word to describe it. It felt almost out of body! Thanks for commenting. :) Made my day!

Omg! You're alive! How have you been? How are the boys? Any recent pics? I miss you. I vividly remember where I was too. I was driving home from the CT DMV after getting my license with the 4 year old I was nannying at the time. It was either that morning or the night before, but I think it was that morning, I got my new Sprint Cell phone. I heard it on the radio and called my parents right away. They were safe of course. I can't remember if I called the mom or she called the house, but I asked if she wanted the boys (ages 6 and 8 at the time I think) home from school. She said no, she didn't want them to know. I then spent the next several hours dividing my time between the kids and my tv in my room watching. I don't think I'll ever forget either.
