Summer 1

May 30, 2006 13:09

So summer is just starting to get pulled together, which is good since we are already 3 weeks into it here (at least, as far as the school is concerned). I am taking intro to German so I can learn some, which is a pretty cool class. It is hard though. I have a mental block with languages, where I can often read stuff that is written down but ( Read more... )

I hear you on the laziness. That's why I've just recently started biking again. It's fine once I'm going, but it's a surprisingly large hurdle to take my bike out of my apartment.

I feel the same way, but am trying to bike to work a few times a week. It's just so hot coming home...

as a native of your Land of Flowers, i strongly recommend swimming. pools are all over the place in FL and it cools you down and is good exercise, etc. running would be...kinda tough, even more than normal running, with the oppressive heat. or exercising indoors, especially in summer. heat-stroke is no fun, and comes on you kinda fast when you're not used to sticking to shade and drinking skads of water. so, yeah, swimming. if you really insist on exercising...

Good suggestion. I really like swimming. Although, a lot of the time I just splash around like a kid instead of actively swimming.

Recently I wasn't happy with the way I looked or how I felt physically, which is why I started to exercise. I also had the same problem re: working out in the morning. I couldn't find a way to make it easy, so for a week I forced myself to get up/go to bed early and work out in the mornings. I would get up 15-30 min earlier every day till I was getting up when I wanted, and after a week or two I found it was pretty easy to keep going because I felt better and my body was used to that sleep schedule.

If you are self-conscious about running, you could get equipment like Elise suggested, or you could try to find a gym you feel comfortable in. I cannot run a mile straight right now, so I started walking briskly instead. I still get good exercise, and eventually I’ll be able to run. I just need to get in shape first.

Regardless, Good Luck! You can do eeet!

I remember your posts about that. I actually really appreciated them, as they helped me kick myself in the butt and get up off the couch.

I like our gym here at FSU, and I am getting a lot better at going after work on my way home (once I am home, I like to stay there, so it needs to be a stop on the way home).

Thanks for the encouragement.
