Tricky Ears

I've been eavesdropping on an attorney's phone conversations here at work. He's in his mid-late 30's, had his first baby a few months ago, and is going through an early mid-life crisis. Everyday I hear him complain about the grind of his current job to his old coworkers at the DAs office. He even admitted that he went to law school by default.

sympathy for the devil

despite this dude's own responsibility for his life, and despite the consequences of his own decisions that impact not only him but also his wife and baby, part of me still feels sorry for the asshole.

please God, help me to not completely blow my best chances in life the way this guy did. i'd rather die by breast milk than live with lifelong regrets, what-if's, and blown shots at true happiness.

I too felt sorry for him but then I thought about how he never had the courage until now to face his life and my sympathy very quickly dissipated. It's too bad when life is not lived in the present, is taken for granted, and then timing is blamed for being such a biotch.

He is an unfortunate reminder to grab life by the balls.
