Eat Pray Love

Thank you Thank you JEN! I absolutely LOVED "Eat Pray Love". Sadly, I'm done with it. I would love a suggestion of another book that similar. Tales of finding enlightenment. Any other great suggestions?

What specifically did I enjoy?

The subject
The humor
the descriptions
the analytical nature of the writer

I'm really glad that you liked it - I suspected you would. As for other books like it, I'm not sure. I can't say anything jumps to mind. I'll keep an eye out and look around on Goodreads.com, though.

Surprisingly, I found "Julie and Julia" to have a similar feel. Both books are about women at a turning point in their lives who embark on a "quest" of sorts to try to figure out who they are and what they want out of life. And neither woman takes herself too seriously...

"Julie and Julia" probably doesn't have as much in the way of grand insights, but I loved the author's voice and found it a highly pleasurable read. (In some ways it is nice to know that other people have the same crises we do, ya know?)

I'm not sure this would fit the bill, but my Ayurvedic doctor recommended The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran. I think he chose it because he felt I was struggling with issues of having faith (because I'm usually waiting for something bad to happen).

I tried to read it just after my appointment with him, but didn't have the attention span for it (despite the fact that it's very short). However, upon revisiting it, I really enjoyed it.
