TV Nostalgia

Someone said I should post more. Since I have a feeling that I may be depressed, I am going to do just that. I'm going to rabble, rant or just be silly and nostalgic, as the mood takes me. So apologies to my flisties and love love love. You might just want to wince and close your eyes ( Read more... )

For the longest time Jon Pertwee was my favorite Doctor. Now it's Christopher Eccleston. I agree entirely about what a raw deal Jack got. I don't think Jack trusted the Doctor so much as he trusted Martha. Just like he trusted Rose. Just another callous bit of Ten's was how he told Jack about Rose.

*nods* And I'll bet you that if it was Jack imbued with the Tardis power, and Rose brought back and 'tainted' by the power of the Vortex, Ten would never have left her behind. The opposite, I'm sure - he would have moved heaven and earth to save her.

I could scream. I carry a big grudge on Jack's behalf here. No matter what he did, the doctor treated him like he was a leper. Ten seemed to forget that it's down to him that Jack ended up like he did. Definitely by the end of the whole Master arc, I think Jack was trusting Martha more than the Doc. And why not? Martha trusted him, and she showed more concern and kindness to a man she'd only just met than the Doctor had to one who travelled with him and apparently been his friend for several months. Those episodes were, I think, a wake-up call for Jack. Like I said, IMHO, his hero-worship days were over. Good for you, Jack. *hugs him*

I've decided that much as I like David Tennant, I don't like Ten. He's cold, callous.

Have you seen any of the new series yet (4th)?

It's good, but there was one part in particular I was going to mention. I won't since you've not seen it. :) I just really wanted to see Ten acknowledge Jack, and all he did. He doesn't seem to get how much Jack suffered, and all for him, which does says to me he is totally self-centred.

This caught me - I just watched Ten's end last night on Comcast ON DEMAND. You have some really good points. At least he was nice to Jack at the end - too little too late - but hey ( ... )

I definitely thought David Tennant's seasons were middling. Some of the more rubbish ones that stand out where the Daleks in New York eps - pig soldiers, human daleks, naff naff naff.

John Simms was all kinds of awesome as the Master - actually he reminded me in a way of Christopher Eccleston - all that manic energy that could get tipped just too much into darkness.

I did catch part of the last DT ep and I admit I did cry - the Grandpa! *sniff* Not sure about the new guy though, but I might give it a look when the new series starts.

Good point, though - this Doc is no.11 and I'm pretty sure the Doctor is only meant to have 13 lives, so what will they do? Probably find a loophole I think, like they did for Buffy. :)
