-i'm opting for a quad G5, 'cause i hear the intel macs are not doing well with photoshop
-crts are still better than lcds with resolution and color. Get mulitple monitors instead of one overpriced cinema one.
-size isn't best with wacom unless you are used to drawing large scale (mine is 6x8)

I'd just settle for a large format scanner.

Though I'm not a fancy artist, as a gamer I know that jut is absolutely right about the quality of LCDs. It's just not there yet for my needs. Need way better response times, then PQ.

It's okay to want nice things. I just spent over $200 on clothes today. It felt weird -- first time I've ever bought more than one full-price article at once in my 27 years. Money's for electronics, not textiles! Even so, I want to dress better and I know it'll make me happier, to some degree, so I don't really see it as wasted money. (Instead I see it as two more articles I'll need to write next week. :P)

to me, all of your items are investments, except for the car, although you could say that the volvo is sort of an investment in your safety.

i have less guilt about buying extravagent things when i do a lot of research on them and am sure that i won't regret the purchase or want to replace the item with something else in the next few years. the stuff i regret buying the most are things that aren't exactly what i want or need, but i get because they are on sale. i say, buy quality stuff that you'll use a lot and that you'll really appreciate every time you use them. if and when you get the money, you should be able to enjoy it a little.
