Identification

Yesterday afternoon at the grocery store-Trader Joe's-Nicole and I bought mozzarella, ground beef, and a bottle of wine. The checkout girl, who seemed about my age, or perhaps a bit younger, asked to see my ID. I opened my wallet; she asked that I take it out. I never know when someone is going to want to have you take your ID out. I'm not sure ( Read more... )

Ooh, that is unsettling. That's weird, too, normally they're not so uptight at TJ's.

Indeed. Not being asked to show ID isn't uncommon. It is the Burien TJ's, and I'm not sure how the demographics play out there.

Do you have any random advice for someone who just bought their first digital SLR camera? I've only really had a couple point-and-shoot cameras, never even a proper film camera. I want to take a photography class at some point, but the few I've seen have either sounded weak or much more in-depth (and expensive) than I can handle now. I've got a few books on hold at the library and have been trying to learn via Wikipedia and Flickr. Anyway, thought maybe you had a recommendation of sorts...

My apologies for the delays in this response. I kept mulling ideas to try to provide a more thorough response ( ... )

Thanks for getting back to me. I've been a slacker w/r/t LiveJournal...

I've seen the PCNW online, so it's good to hear a recommendation on that, it's something I'm definitely going to look into in the future, when I can afford it.

I think I definitely need to just spend more time playing around with the settings; I have a basic understanding of them all, but I feel like I need to know when to adjust something, when to place one value, or type of value, higher than another.

I do know that I can't afford any other hobbies or interests. Until I win the lottery tonight.

Thanks! Photography is something I've always had a little interest in; it's something I want to practice and explore further.

The other few I took that evening are here
