Progress!

 It way be quiet on the internet front, but I have been beavering away behind the scenes, and there is actual progress on the Elizabethan redwork coif.
 
There are pitcures and everything! )

Oh, lovely! Yes, definitely with the shading - it makes all the difference and lifts it up to a whole new level.

I wonder, and I don't know the answer, whether this would have been called red work in period - it's not a term I remember seeing. Possibly Spanish work which is the more common term for blackwork in the Elizabethan period. But if you can point me at an example of the term, I'd be grateful.

Hmm. Nope, sorry Dr Q, I'm just using it to describe what it looks like. I would generally call it Spanish or even blackwork if I wanted to be a bit more realistic about it. Actually, it will probably get called the "Linen coif worked in red silk".
