Labour Day

Today, I learned an important lesson: when staying in a country that has/practices Labour Day (we don't have it in the UK - what the hell is it, anyway?), make sure the day BEFORE Labour Day that you have enough groceries to last you for a 48 hour period. Public holidays just give them a reason to be blatant about it.

Well, in the end I nipped out to buy a noodle-cup thing (I felt extremely lazy that evening) and since they actually had the price on the shelf that time I knew in advance how badly I was being screwed over, which at least reduced the shock slightly. And today... Woolworths! Actual groceries! Hoorah!
