5. i've been shocked, actually, by how fast and how well the kids respond to me. it's def. not a question of any skill or experience of mine. all they want is someone who isn't an insufferable bore, who'll bother making a case for Why They Should Care.

oh god... we ARE old. and that is a terrifying thought. but one can still reason out what it would have been like in another time right? I imagine worlds pre-the phone, and i can ALMOST remember a pre-cell phone social norm.
