My 2 cents

A friend who is trying to get into a translation program asked me today if I would look over an English composition essay she'd written for this, and it was all about the internet and if it was a good or bad thing... that sort of thing. A stupid and pointless debate, since you can't put the genie back in the bottle once it's out, but whatever. ( Read more... )

how do boys learn about sex? through porn, magazines, peepholes at the gym, their friend's older brother.

the point is: porn does cast an unrealistic light on sexuality, be it through the minimal foreplay, the assured orgasms, the lack of pilosity, the pink assholes, the non-existent labia minora, the painless anal sex, the over-the-top moans, the wild contorsions, the fake boobs and the 10" penises ( ... )

Completely agree. That's why I said that when parents shirk their responsibilities onto the web or media, then they pretty much abandon their kids to learn things from the worst possible sources. It's one thing to be exposed to something (like porn for example) if you are already a well-rounded adult who can differentiate between what is real and what isn't. One of the problem with porn is that it is often seen by kids who don't yet have the experience or the maturity to be able to differentiate between the two, the other main problem is, as I said that girls are often the ones who are the victims of porn, and that's just unacceptable.

Sexuality is a wonderful part of adult life, but it comes with responsibilities and should not be perverted into something that is harmful to people or otherwise negatively impacts their well-being. Which is why I say if we could get past the unhealthy views we have on it here, and educate people better, we might become a healthier society.

One can always hope :-)

Don't like feminists...
They forget mens have their problems too even if they created most of it themselves. I think they have more pressure than us, only, it's more hidden...

Womens whine :p

Well I don't like any extremists, regardless what they are trying to convince others of.

It's always interesting (and surprising) to me to hear of women, especially Quebec women, say they are anti-feminist, because most of them if you asked them about various feminist questions (like equality, the right to vote etc) would say they agree with them. So I guess what you're saying is something along the same lines as me; equality yes, extremes no. Something like that?

I do think that in an effort to swing the pendulum a bit toward the side of equality, Quebec women have succeeded in demasculinizing (is that the right word?) many men here, especially those who were young in the 60's. There was an entire generation of guys here who had no idea how to be a man. Not sensitive enough, woops no, back-up too sensitive now... Many are still confused.

It's unfortunate that in its quest for the right idea, humans often go to both extremes before they find the middle ground...

Always. As you can't recognise something you love before you loose it, or learn after you got an accident. You need to be drunk to become sober... As I am an exception I see! :p

Don't like feminists, anarchist less and less, vegan activists (propaganda), racism, black panter, gay parades... All the same for me... Be proud, be who you are, do what you want, you need, just don't force other people, do it right at least without hating others who aren't alike, all that... Yeah. I went very careful, than careless, than I did my part, then now I just think I don't give a shit... I care, but I won't change the world... Ok, too hard to explain here... Very confusing :p
