I never read the book, so I can only give my impression from watching the film - it was very much a father/daughter relationship from what I saw, there was no indication of an affair when I watched it, though they were very close.

I've also read the book myself, twice, and all the others and am pretty sure that it's not a propper affair, it is more like father and daughter, when it comes to propper affairs Anne Rice is very explicit and in this case wasn't even slightly.... Louis loves her yes and calles her the love of his life but not meaning that way, the way I read it, though that is how Lestat felt of Louis.
