badly timed relapse
Missed big fun last weekend because of the flu. Of course I was well enough to go to work Monday and Tuesday, although I was still way congested and coughing. I just read about PoshTosh's dying grandmother, and realized how much I avoid talking about the real losses in life.
My own mother has been terminally ill for six years.
It sounds strange, right? Anybody could die over the course of six years. Really: how many busses do we walk in front of in that amount of time?

People I know criticize the French from time to time, and I always think it's because they don't understand them. lost a weekend

My stupid immune system failed me again. This time it had sadistic timing: I got sick Friday at work. Stayed til 9PM finishing a project as my head slowly swelled and my fever spiked, then came home to cancel all my fun outdoor plans for the weekend and crawl shivering into bed. But! I just had a long talk with the ex-boyfriend of a friend of mine, and I feel like a one-ton turd. In a single conversation, I managed to simultaneously violate my friend's trust and break the heart of the ex-boy. the hungry girl is gone
Late one night last week she got arrested in what was clearly a sting. The cops appeared suddenly, surrounded a car full of crack heads, and took only her. It makes me a little angry, given that it was clear that she was not the dealer. (He dresses well, has a new SUV and is clearly not starving to death.)
