On the list of likely premises for future Legend of Zelda games, which I keep handy at all times, the idea of Link as a heroic locomotive conductor did not rank particularly high. Check out the trailer here:

The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks

You heard it here first, folks.

Oh god, why? It makes no sense whatsoever! They dress him up like a JNR (Japanese National Railways) engineer and have him battle demons with pincers?

Even worse, look at that dopey looking locomotive!? What were these guys smoking when they came up with THAT? There's no honest way that locomotive could even work properly in real life.

Here's what a REAL JNR steam locomotive looks like..

You'd think that the Japanese would shamelessly plop him in an actual Japanese locomotive for this game, what is their problem?

*facepalm* It not only insults Link & Zelda but also people interested in railroads.

Man, if there was ONE person whom I had thought would be excited by this premise, it would be you. However, I failed to accurately predict how someone who actually knows a shitload about trains would critique this game, so with that in mind, clearly NO ONE, not even railroad nerds, would be interested in LOZ: Spirit Tracks. Epic nintendo fail, anyone?

(shrugs) The game will be no worse than any other Zelda game made for a handheld console- which is to say it'll be pretty unlovable, but the premise won't have anything to do with it.

Every time they take the franchise in a new direction it looks stupid on paper. It's a little early to dismiss the game.

I wonder if Ganon will have a long mustach and tie Zelda to the tracks.

Now I'm imagining a Ganon-Yosemite Sam mix...

Sometimes I imagine regular Sam as a Ganon-Yosemite Sam mix.
