In the YouTube communities I'm in, we have labels for people who in-group, and people who are outside of the group. The difference is whether people accept the values of that in group or not. But you see, it's really stupid to have these labels, especially the out-group ones. I talk about why that is here:

We graduate students at UIC were threatened by an administrative decision to change the rules about tuition waivers. Normally, you get a tuition waiver when you have an appointment as TA or RA. There's nothing else to it. But the university wanted to change that and let the departments figure out their own rules for tuition waivers ( Read more... )
