I sure wish the deadqueers would be a little less stubborn than they were in life so I could better enjoy the livequeers. But ya know, they would have bitch-slapped me for suggesting such a thing when they had flesh.
I think that is a lovely way to see it, a lovely way to see them. Maybe I'll eventually evolve to see it that way too. There are many ways to honor our dead. Mine, like the characters my muse throws me, refuse to shut up & sit down, sometimes. Given how noisy & stubborn they were in the flesh, that does not surprise me one bit. :o)
I guess the discourse is now subtler. I see young flaming queers (20’s) not wanting to identify with queer identity. I feel suspicious. There’s no room to ask if this is because they perceive being queer as losing social status? All I can do is listen. Talking about suspicion, here in Vancouver we celebrate our queer day is on a long American weekend.
A lot of young people who would be perceived as straight want to sexually identify as flexible. They don’t want this type of identify politics.
We’ve been economically co-opted for a long time. However at the other side of my mouth I’m singing long-live queer businesses.

Feeling suspicious makes sense - I think there is a much subtler discourse, with more "branches." For example, it seems to me there are a lot more (women, at least) willing to say they're bi or flexible re: sexual partners. It's hardly an eye-opener, and kid of loser-ish to brag as if you're a rebel. Umm, yeah, that and a tattoo and belly button ring make you SO cool. *feel the sarcasm
