The train ride down to New York was something Danny would rather regret. He'd spent much of it hidden under the Mets hoodie Lindsay had bought him awhile back. She jumped slightly, knowing that Hawkes wouldn't bother her while she slept. "Danny?" Her voice was heavy and thick from sleep, and she rubbed at her eyes before opening them.

"What are you doing here?" She opened her eyes and looked at him, torn between wanting to kiss him and wanting to smack him for being stupid enough to come back to New York.

"Yeah. Yeah, it's me." He said softly, sighing as he pulled away to get a better look at her. He wiped his hands on his lap, nervous now.

Danny shrugged a little bit and glanced down at his lap. "Figured I'd come and see you. You went and disappeared, and I wasn't sure if you were okay."

Lindsay sat up and pushed her hair out of her face. "What time is it?" she asked sleepily. "Feel like I got hit by a truck, God."

Looking over at him, she raised an eyebrow. "So it's okay for you to disappear in a strange city, but I can't once we're back home?"

Danny laughed to himself, turning his wrist to check his watch. "Early afternoon. Doc said you didn't get to sleep until a few hours ago."

He shook his head and met Lindsay's eyes. "I disappeared because I needed to think. Needed to be alone. I couldn't just walk in there with you like everything was just fine!"
