ah holy crap. that's scary, you so better get that fixed. i love libertys. i went to vw yesterday to get something fixed that was in a recall for my passat. the mechanic at the dealership said everything was fine, and all my parts are up to date, but the recall like just came out. makes me feel kinda skeptical, but i guess they know what they are doing.
Yeah they said all of the late 2003 Liberties sold are all fixed, but early 2003 and 2002 models (Mine is a 2002, I bought brand new in the fall of 2001) might present a problem.
They are fixing for free of course, but It is just hard to find time to drop off my car and be without transportation for a day.
Something got recalled on my car way back when, it was that kind of deal. The whole fix it or your car will find the nearest cliff and throw itself off. I just love how they finish the recall letters with sorry with the inconvenience that we sold you a death trap...
Yeah I thought it was kind of strange the way they scared you to death with what can happen (and DID HAPPEN or they would not have released the recall) and then the way they end the letter.. hmm.
Yeah I know. Maybe they should choose a different wording. Recalls are scary.
Even scarier, someone at my job told me they got notice of the recall about 3 months ago, and they have the exact same model as mine. I hope they did not selectively choose who should get the notice first. THAT is even more scary.

A new car built by my company leaves somewhere traveling at 60 mph. The rear differential locks up. The car crashes and burns with everyone trapped inside. Now, should we initiate a recall? Take the number of vehicles in the field, A, multiply by the probable rate of failure, B, multiply by the average out-of-court settlement, C. A times B times C equals X. If X is less than the cost of a recall, we don't do one. Business woman on plane: Are there a lot of these kinds of accidents? Narrator: You wouldn't believe. Business woman on plane: Which car company do you work for? Narrator: A major one.
It is probably okay, although with how the humidity in the air is here in Florida maybe it is more likely here. Hmm. I need to schedule an appointment to get it fixed. They are located right on highway 60.

hahahahaha! How nice of them to realize that driving a potentially self-destructing car is inconvenient.
