Edward Elric (this journal) has a hair trigger when it comes to his height (or lack thereof), so any remote mention to it (even with the word "small") will set him off. He wears boots with a bit of a platform and has his hair with a little antenna sticking up to appear a bit taller.

He also has steel prosthetics for his right arm and left leg, which he conceals most of the time with long sleeves and gloves. You can usually tell with the way he carries himself or the fact that he seems to feel no pain in those limbs no matter what you do to them (unless one were to, say, shatter his arm and leg). He was in the military back in his world, known for being the youngest to join and being prodigy in alchemy. He's got a huge chip on his shoulder because of it.

He has a really bad history with death and religion, and will avoid talking about it when he can. He's an adamant atheist, and isn't afraid to basically say that alchemist > God. He tried to bring his mother back to life, and he winded up failing that AND fucking up his body and his

Kage has a shitload of scars, and the hands of a working man. He also speaks with an accent that is like a mix between Russian and Arabic. He will sometimes mix up his B's and V's because his first language doesn't distinguish between them.

Batou doesn't move. He's a cyborg, so he doesn't ever fidgit or shift. It's kinda creepy.

Kitami is obvs. a punk. Gets in lots of fights and stuff, Shawn'll be able to pick up the fact that the kid's at least a decent fighter as far as Japanese 16 year olds go.

He'll also probably notice that despite all his posing and attitude that says "WHY AM I HERE I AM WAY MORE COOL/BADASS THAN YOU GUYS", he still shows up/talks to people. Instead of, you know, avoiding the situation or not talking to people who are 'below him'. It's because he's trying to make friends without ruining his reputation/admitting that he wants friends. (Calling him out on this is, of course, SUPER EMBARRASSING.) Super socially awkward, this one.
