BNF Brawl/HanaKimi & Mars/Interest Meme <3

So, uh, if any of you is into slightly less than canon RPGs, bnf_brawl? In which characters from different fandoms compete to become the biggest BNF by writing fanfic about each other. :D There should be more Naruto in this RPG! Especially some of the Sand kids, Kiba, or Hinata. I kind of want to play Temari, but I want someone else to play her more. I'd ( Read more... )

I might not have kept reading Mars if I only had volume one--it left off at a really awkward point. But they actually do get together later on, and are really quite sweet together. And Harumi (the girl who nearly bashed Kira's fingers) isn't so much of a nutcase. The tragic backstory really is piled on as it goes on, which is annoying, but it makes everything fit together better instead of just feeling tacked on. It took me ages to read it, though; I've been seeing it in translation since 2003 (at least!), and only now looked into it. The cover & blurb really don't catch one's eye at all.

I like Umeda, too! :D And Sano's prickly little brother. I'm not quite as sucked into this one as I am with Nana, but I like a lot of the side characters very much, which makes handling the relationship angst much easier.

Re: interest meme, please tell me more about your interest in '80s music. :D

The videos! :D Wasn't that about when music videos were first being shown with any regularity on TV? Some of them are awful, but in a really great way (kind of like the songs!).

wait, how does it not obey the laws of gravity but still manages to stay thin and fine? :O I have stray hairs that sometimes stick straight up due to static but only when I pull my hair back in a pony tail/bun, and then I attack my hair with clips.

Apparently it's not thin. :/ The individual strands are, but there are a lot of them? I imagine Harry Potter's hair would be a lot like this, anyway--completely unmanageable & funny-looking.

Are you replying to the interest meme? :D

That should be the main showcase for your online soul, Bing! But I won't make you talk about being oh-so-indie if you really don't want to. :D

AH, YOU PUT TOO MUCH LOGIC IN HANAKIMI (and shoujo in general). When reading manga and watching drama, I try to put logic somewhere far away. (It usually does not work though!)

Sano gives an explanation later. And whether you think it is a dumb explanation or not, THERE IS AN EXPLANATION! :X

(I think Sano is so beautiful and despite being an idiot at times, I adore him so so much. :X And Umeda-sensei is my HERO. ♥ I think I love almost every character in HanaKimi.)

But everything ought to be logical! At least it should follow emotional logic! It's fiction, after all. :/ Although I was complaining at length to myself yesterday about the way everything in fiction has to mean something, unless you are Haruki Murakami. I like when there's stuff that isn't important to the story, because it makes it much harder to guess what will happen. When the author/mangaka/whatever lingers on some new guy, you know that he'll be important later on--and I don't really like that. Most of my manga fun comes from trying to apply the logic to completely illogical things, though, so maybe I should attempt to do that with shoujo. :D ( ... )

This phenomenon first appeared during the early days of Tenipuri, when all was flowers and sunshine for Yin and her being shiny over Tezuka/Fuji. 8D Now, happy fandom crack tends to involve something written by lazulisong! Things that fall into this category would be: being mean to draco, being mean to Watanuki, TEASING SYAORAN UNTIL HE TURNS RED, THEN WHITE, THEN RED AGAIN.

(KAYASHIMA! Oh man, Kayashima is so awesome. I would dig an entire volume of focusing on just him and Nakatsu because THE TWO OF THEM ARE SO AWESOME.)

I promise Sano gets a little better within the next 2 volumes in terms of angsting. Still doesn't really get over emo-ing over stuff re:Mizuki, but he figures out a lot more. THANK GOD. '_'b Do you have the 'sequel' chapter? :> It's really dumb fluffy cute, BUT THEN AGAIN, I LIKE HANAKIMI FOR THE DUMB FLUFFY CUTE? SO.

Shoujo is predictable. :D BUT THAT'S WHY I LIKE IT? It tends to not be too brainbreaking!

I don't see myself joining -- it's too time-consuming, as entertaining as it would be -- but I will deeefinitely be reading.

Whoever does Fuji is my hero. O___O Same to Hermione. Still haven't read enough to fangirl everyone else though. :DDDD
