I normally don't leave comments, but for this piece I had to because honestly it was fantastic. Great writing, great emotion, and I just loved the entire thing.

Wow, this is fantastic! Great look at both Sam and Dean's state directly after the battle with Cain. This passage was particularly powerful:
He doesn’t speak, just twists a frayed strand of blanket wool between his fingers and squeezes his eyes closed every few minutes. Like he’s trying desperately to remember something. Or forget something.

I also really liked the idea of Sam sitting on the floor outside the bathroom waiting for Dean, wondering how often Dean has done the same thing for him. Great stuff.
