So having been in Australia for over two weeks now I only have one major complaint. It is that no one here has driers! It is the strangest thing in the world for me. After another night walk where nothing special was seen (though some claim to have seen a squid) it was on to the second to last day here at the station. So it’s been a few days that we have been at the research station and things have settled into somewhat of a pattern: 7:00 or 8:00 am breakfast, 10:30 morning tea, 12:00 lunch, 3:30 afternoon tea, then 6:00 dinner. Today was the first day of our six day stay at the Moreton Bay Research station on Stradbrook Island. Although the trip over here did necessitate waking up at 5:40am to be able to catch a bus at 6:30 (the walk to the stop takes about a half hour), to be able to catch another bus to the University to get there by 7:45, it was well worth it ( Read more... )

The first day of school was interesting and a little hectic. It started with Ryan, the other guy staying in the same house as me, and I having to run quite a distance to the bus stop for fear of missing out bus. Yesterday was a very relaxed day for me. I managed to accomplish my primary goal of taking the bus, or should I say two buses, to the University. Once on campus I started phase two of my mission for the day which was to find the spot where I'm supposed to meet the other people in the program on Monday.
