I'm glad I don't live in Hawaii. I would not have been able to handle the situation calmly. And I would have slept with the lights on so as not to wake up with a Roachzilla on my face. (Actually I did that one time when a giant creepy crawly of unknown species invaded the room I lived in my last year at TCNJ. I nearly had a heart attack!)
Anyway, it's good you don't stomp your Roachzilla family. I heard somewhere that doing so only draws more roaches. (Or angers aliens a la MIB...)
I think stamping bugs is simply malicious. If you have an infestation, it's genocide or nothing, in a you vs. them scenario. They have the numbers, you have the power, and you're defending your home and health against an influx of bacteria, compromised architectural stability, etc. Killing one bug does nothing, furthers your own interests in no way whatsoever, and is just mean!
But they're so creepy and scary...
But you can't just kill something because you don't understand it! This is the precursor to all inequalities!
This is my dilemma, in which insects emerge victorious...
