Just make sure if you do anything like take the carpet up yourselves that you take pictures of every stage with people in them, so you can prove anything you've done is a result of the flood.

No, you're exactly right. I'm a little paranoid right now anyway - actually, a lot paranoid. Worried as hell, too, because I'm not sure how this can be resolved in a good way. I'm going to post an update re: the insurance stuff. :(
