diez: so many orders of business.

[Warden filter]An inmate reported to me some damage in the female inmate showers to the pipework. I'm not sure of the veracity of the report, but if a female warden could go and check one way or another, that would be greatly appreciated. She reported that it had been 'hacked at' - like someone was attempting to take it off, but she didn't know ( Read more... )

[Warden Filter] I shall sleep soon but I'll hit that later. most_feared September 25 2011, 09:54:05 UTC
I think I'll get back in contact with the people I was talking to about having someone in the general shower area.

No inmate of my own at the moment, and honestly considering taking a vacation. When I get back, I'll gladly be someone's second.

To be fair, unless you're going to barge in on people having showers, that kind of damage can easily be missed happening. Who did it and if anything's missing - or even if it's true - are the important things.

I wasn't talking about seconds at all. I was talking about having a list of people we can contact in an emergency. Not to look after someone's inmate, but to let them know you're alright and why you're missing.

More like an equivalent to a next-of-kin on board, and permission to explain to your inmate, rather than a second.

You just reminded me is all.

Be prepared to keep that list constantly updated with all the comings and goings. If anyone wants to list me then when I get back, I'll cosign on it.

I imagine it would be quite a fluid list for some people, unfortunately, but it's worth doing.

It might be reasonable to allow people to make exceptions and conditions too, and, obviously, any list would be confidential.

Of course. I have several I could return, actually. Which one were you thinking?

There's one by a man called Antonio Gramsci.

At some point today? I'm a little busy tomorrow.

[pause]

Actually, when you come, I'd like a word.

Does this mean maybe I can leave and give everyone one less patient to deal with? And one more hand to cover the meeting?

...I'll come and see how you are tonight, if you want.

[This is not necessarily the 'yes, get thee out of here!' she was hoping for, but eh. She'll take it!]

Thanks. I just feel like I should be helping, instead of... making more work.

You should not feel irresponsible for needing medical treatment. It's alright.

Except in seeking the appropriate recipient, we might actually be giving out information that is not wanted. If people do not wish for anyone to know of their situation, then they do not have to know. This is more... a safeguard for the situation where an inmate asks one of us what happened to their warden or friend, and we have permission to give them a decent amount of information, with care and attention.

I think the main worry was if someone had taken the parts to do something more nefarious with. The repair, I would have presumed, would have been down to maintainance.

There will be a post, for both wardens and inmates to specify a contact, permission for their warden and inmate, and restrictions on the above.

I would have gone and checked myself, but I would probably have put myself in a difficult position if I just walked straight into the women's showers.
